Tick Tick Tick Tick Tick Tick Tick Boom!

"'Cause I have done it before and I can do it some more
I got my eye on the score
I'm gonna cut to the core
It's too late, it's too soon, or is it....
Tick, tick, tick, tick, tick, tick, tick, boom!"

Greetings.

It has been a good long while since last I posted. I'm so used to not blogging that I kind of forget about this blog machine sometimes. Oh bother.

This week is exam week for us school-going kids and it has been long and arduous, to say the least. Luckily, I am now done and can continue with my life or whatever. It has been so terribly cold lately! - Really, Katelyn? Because it's like winter and stuff? zomg! - Yes, I realize the obviousness of this, I am merely making a statement...and indirectly having a conversation with myself. Wow.  This is starting to go all over the place. I'm going to stop while I'm behind. Who's ready for some unrelated pictures that I found and liked from weheartit?

Thanks

I know, I know. Thanksgiving was light years ago, but I'm a lazy college student, rada, rada, rada, etc. and am just now getting around to this blog machine to post. Here we go:

Thanksgiving is a wonderful holiday. I love stuffing my face full of my grandmother's superb cooking, seeing the relatives, and getting a small, but needed break from school. My family largely consists of nurses and therefore, it isn't a rare happening for us to celebrate holidays on days other than the scheduled calender date of the event. It happens, no big deal.

This year, my mother was going to work the day of and the day before Thanksgiving and then we would all travel happily to Nashville to spend Thanksgiving with our relatives that weekend. That was a fine plan.....except! I was unable to get off work on the weekend. Sad sauce. I was going to be spending Thanksgiving (my family's rescheduled version of it, at least) alone in my house, and I was going to be working on top of it. I will admit that I was a tad put down by this realization, but things happen so I was dealing with it and moving on with my life. Whatevs.

Christopher, my cousin, was generous enough to invite me to his family's Thanksgiving, so that was nice. We fit in a bit of jamming and other music-related activities so that was fantastic! I was able to put some new music on my iTunes, which always makes my day. And...later that night, my friend Stephanie met up with Chris and I for some Across the Universe and H.A.A.R.P. Tour! It was beautiful, Stephanie cried and I cried on the inside. (Don't be embarrassed when you read this, Steph, it is perfectly acceptable). It was an unexpectedly decent holiday.

The weekend was kind of synonymous with its weather - rainy, dreary, and cold, but I won't whine. My family was even kind enough to bring me back some Thanksgiving lunch in zip lock baggies. I realize that this is quite pathetic and sad, but it still tasted okay. One just has to take what they can get, sometimes.

Thanks for reading this long post. I hope everyone had super Thanksgivings.

Life Being What It Is

Oh life and your crazy twists and turns....

(weheartit.com)

The life of Katelyn has been a bit...different, for lack of a better word, as of late. It's interesting how things that one tries so fervently to prevent and anguishes over again and again seem to happen despite it all. They just occur as if all the headache and stress they have caused never existed or meant anything whatsoever. What in the world, life?

One can never hope to expect what the future brings. Some days things go according to plan and schedule and everything works out like we want it to. Other days, however, no matter how hard we try to stay on task, do the right thing, etc. life throws us a curve ball and sends us spiraling out of control. There will always be variables that a person cannot always foresee and adjust to. That is both the gift and curse of life.

Well, that's my little rant for the day. Sorry it was so depressing, I'm ill (fever, cough, sore throat, runny nose, chills, body ache, etc) and it has been raining a lot.  It is only the middle of the week and I feel as if I have gone through a week's worth of stress, and other school-related trivialities and burdens. I think I'm going to go drink some hot chocolate and try to be in a better mood. Good grief.

Maybe, You're Gonna Be The One That Saves Me

MUSIC!!!!, sentimental moments, and candy -

So, I was sitting, eating my oatmeal that has the sugary dinos in it (the only kind I eat. It's is delicious!) and I was thinking about this mix my friend, Danny, and I are currently working on. It is a 90's mix. I happen to LOVE the 90's. Good times, for shizzle. Thinking of classic music for the CD has really been a sentimental experience. There is SOOOO much good music out there! Honestly, I could make multiple cds devoted to particular genres. The songlist is super long and continuing to grow. Danny has excellent taste in music and knows so many bands. It makes my head feel like it's going to explode sometimes...but in a good way. =) I am always glad to share and/or spread the knowledge of good music. I'm enjoying this little project immensely.

My goodness, I love music and my friends. I hang with the coolest kids in the world. I honestly feel like the odd one out sometimes, but I'm glad I have them. They have such good taste in music and are a thoroughly humorous bunch.  It warms my heart.

Meanwhile, back on the ranch....

Other than being a busy bee with school and homework and whatnot, I've been doing pretty well lately. Halloween just came and went, in case you were unaware. My besties and I were zombies. It was fantastic. We went trick or treating for a bit then kidnapped my cousin, Chris, and headed out to Waffle House! It has become a tradition among our little group. Choosing some jazzy tunes on the jukebox and eating tasty waffles always makes for a wonderful evening. After Casa de Waffles, we attempted to watch Nightmare Before Christmas (on VHS...yes, it matters), but by 12:30 decided it was getting too late and had to put it off until a later time. All-in-all it was another successful, candy-filled Halloween.

Dreams

"Thunder only happens when it's raining.....
When the rain washes you clean... you'll know"

Love these guys =)

So, things have been going really well lately. Friday, I had a splendid time jamming with some friends. I have some VERY musical friends, let me tell you. They make me feel so inferior. I'm envious.  Also, I went to this sweet little coffee shop downtown on Saturday night. Some random, indie chick told me I was B.A. (bad attitude haha). Awesome. I have to say, that was definitely a first. (Duh). It was a fun evening.

It has been raining A LOT in chatt-vegas, not to mention being very windy. I was not aware of this development until my friend, Stephanie texted me on Monday morning. Apparently she had woken to it raining like a boss at around 3 that morning. The tornado warning alarms were sounding quite loudly all over campus (close enough where Stephanie could hear them at her casa). I, however, slept like a baby. Oh well. Sleeping is always better than...not sleeping. Profound, I know.

Today, when I awoke the sky looked like it was trying to make up for its previous, bad behavior and was all sunny and pleasant. Yeah, that didn't last very long. Tornado Storms struck again! Alarms, running people, wind, rain, more wind, etc. Good grief. I was pretty much a lost, little puppy as I do not live on campus and didn't really have anywhere to go. Sad sauce. Luckily, I found a friendly face who let me hang with her ‘til the "All Clear" was announced majestically, by Gordan (the College president), across campus. Then I went over to Stephanie’s, which is always fun. I'm quite certain that the movie Twister was playing through everybody's mind today. I know it was buzzing in my brain. That movie really messed America up. Srsly. Plus, nobody likes driving in the rain. I sure don’t.

So, this was a long post, but I haven't updated in a bit and had lots of boring stuff to tell. Thank goodness, right?......yeah, anyways....

Handle This

What is up?

So, today has been a slightly weird day. I normally do not have class on Tuesday mornings, but due to fall break time constraints, and whatnot, I did. It was out of the ordinary. I accidentally woke up around the time that I typically leave to go to school, which really threw off my entire schedule. (The bit of extra sleep, though minimal, was divine and much needed). I would have been annoyed that I overslept, but honestly, I was too tired to let myself care that much. I was able to get ready for school in two seconds and made it to class with time to spare. Win.

I tried to make good use of my time today and study a bit, but found it particularly difficult to concentrate and instead wound up humming Sum 41 to myself. Yeah...you know the not-so-ironic song (Hopefully).

I did, at least, have the opportunity to spend some time with my pals, Chris and Stephanie. That was interesting, as usual. I got a cream cheese pretzel out of it and everything. =) I am definitely thankful for Fall Break, not that I'm actually doing anything super exciting during this time off of school (I'm actually working most of it), but every little bit helps.

I hope everyone is having a swell day. Peace.

Whatever's Left

"As the madness sets in, you must know that I'll follow you"

Hello,

Today was a terribly long day. I realize that it is only 2217 as I type this and that is not very late for some of you, but when you have to be at work at 06:30....it can feel quite similar to forever. I don't mean to be a whiny bore or anything, I just feel like today was one of those days where all you do is constantly let out a deep, long sigh, because that's just the only thing that is suitable to express how the day is going (or not going). I don't know if that even makes any sense. Oh bother. Wow....whiny and boring. I digress...

Alas, the day is coming to a close. I shall cast my mind to less drab subjects. How about a list of things that are far from boring!?

Go big or go home. Eh, Chris?

One of my favorite unhealthy cereals
(fro cereal)

I know that puppies are crying somewhere due to the fact I have only ever listened to this one album by her,
but I will change that. No worries. She make gorgeous music. *tear*

This wonderful, miniature lego piano reminded me of my bestie, Stephanie and my cousin Chris.
(They play piano and stuff)

Epic hi-5, no?

So, those are some random pictures. Yep.
Have a swell day

Come Waste Your Millions Here

Hey guys

Today started off to be a fairly ordinary day. I was let out of class early, which is always a pleasant treat, and was able to get in a bit of study time before I joined forces with Stephanie. She successfully distracted me for the remainder of the day and I am very okay with that. We went over to our home away from home: Starbucks. They were playing the funkiest music up in that joint. I was digging it, for sure, but it made me a tad sleepy (that and the fact that instead of getting a cup o’ caffeine, I went with some H20). Stephanie and I listened to some awesome music, as well. Manchester Orchestra is beautiful. Also, Stephanie introduced me to this WONDERFUL song, by Ra Ra Riot, called Boy. So basically, I loved it. It made my own "abilities" seem so inferior. Stephanie has such great taste in music. It warms my heart. =)
Taylor, one of my best friends was “ill” and therefore unable to attend a senior class camping trip this week. Naturally, Stephanie and I had to kidnap her and bring her with us to Starbucks. It only made sense, right?! Crystal, another friend of mine, was also there, but had to go to class and left us early on. We mainly just lounged about, assisted Stephanie in finishing an English paper she was working on, and listened to that super funky music. It was extremely chill until we met up with my bestest friend ever, whom I haven’t seen in ages! Cassidy was nice enough to purchase pretzels for us. Woot!
I just love a day full of friends and food. Even if we aren’t necessarily doing anything, it’s all good with these kids. Funky music is nice too.
-Sorry this post was so long and uneventful. Bleh. Here's some random pictures from weheartit.com that all the kids are talking about these days-

Come To Me, I’m Gonna Set You Free

Greetings.

So, apparently Fridays are supposed to be full of lists and things that fill one’s heart with joy and happiness. However, I was informed by my loverly friend (Stephanie) that my first blog did not meet the unsaid criteria of ‘the first blog’ (Intro, about me, etc). In light of this, I thought I would just be slightly different and post a list of random facts about myself. This will be a replacement for the “Things I Love about Fridays” list – or whatever it is – and hopefully make up for my previous error. Sound good? Super.

List of Random Facts about Myself:
1. I’m quite indecisive, in general
2. One of my all-time-favorite 80’s bands is Styx. I mean, c’mon, you can’t go wrong there. Am I right?
3. I cannot whistle very well…at all
4. I don’t like dipping grilled cheese in ketchup, even though the rest of the planet seems to enjoy the combination
5. I can kind of, sort of play guitar
6. 80’s movies with John Cusack are awesome.
7. I’ve only ever driven Honda Accords (just two of them). This was not on purpose, more happenstance, but I’m okay with it
8. My most favorite season happens to be Fall, which weather-wise, refuses to grace us with its presence, here in Chattanooga
9. I pretty much love anything involving Ben Gibbard. He is so talented!
10. When people wear red and green together, it makes me think of Christmas. I try to avoid it unless it is season appropriate, but that’s just me

Well kids, now you know some little tidbits about me. Feel free to tune in next time. Have a swell weekend.

The Sound of Silence

"Hear my words that I might teach you, take my arms that I might reach you
But my words like silent raindrops fell, and echoed
In the wells of silence..."

Hello.

So, I'm Katelyn,

You have somehow stumbled onto my blog. Welcome.

I hope to keep this up on a fairly regular basis, but we shall see. College keeps me fairly busy (that's kind of a no-brainer, though). Also, I'm quite terribly boring. No...really, I am. I apologize in advance.

So, today happened to be quite the adventurous day. I went to school (boring), but then met up with some friends at China Kitchen. There were a bunch of us: Stephanie, Chris - the cousin - Taylor, Danny, Stella, and my Aunt Janice - Chris' mother, in case you were wondering. Some other kids joined a bit later, but needless to say, our table was pretty full....of awesomeness. =) I received a free meal, compliments of my wonderful aunt, which always makes for a good day. Many, and when I say many, I mean MANY!!!! high-fives were exchanged during this delicious meal. My hand still stings. These kids are hilarious.

We all had class and had to go our separate ways, but regrouped afterwards and I drove everyone to Starbucks. (Just a warning, many of my adventures will have to do with Starbucks. Again...I'm quite boring.) We blasted some sick tunes, including some Cold War Kids, Boston, Tokyo Police Club and few others and topped off our trip with a few Double Rainbows with Clouds from our favorite coffee establishment. Danny was kind enough to buy me one. Wow, I just realized that I've gotten a fair amount of free stuff today. Awesome. =)

Friends, music, food, and coffee make the world go round. So basically, today was a good day.

Thanks for reading, see you next time...hopefully. Peace out.
